Now, we are not sure how much of the show was altered due to the performer’s injury, but it felt like a pretty typical cruise ship show. This was surprising as we usually rank NCL among the likes of Royal Caribbean when it comes to signature production shows. Honestly, the best part of the tour was catching an amazing sunset. We did see some fish and coral, but we expected more in terms of Bermuda Triangle history, myths, etc.

Horseshoe Bay Beach
Then, you'll get to watch the masters at work showing you how to prepare a Dark 'n Stormy and the secrets of the Bermuda Rum Swizzle. Before you disembark, you have the opportunity to take home some Gosling's Rum at duty-free prices. Eventually, we got a table along with some rum swizzles, and Don sampled one of the famous fish sandwiches.
Bermuda beach
Embarking on a Bermuda cruise is the perfect vacation for East Coasters seeking a convenient beach escape. Norwegian presents a variety of Bermuda cruises in 2024, ranging from four-, five-, and seven-night itineraries. Winter in Bermuda is also perfect for exploring the island's cultural and historical attractions, like the Royal Naval Dockyard and the National Museum of Bermuda. You'll enjoy lower rates and fewer crowds at many popular sites. Just remember that some businesses and attractions have shorter operating hours this time of year, so you'll want to plan your activities accordingly. You can't visit Bermuda without tasting Gosling's Black Seal Rum.
Cruise Ports

Then save the last day for activities that are close to the ship in the Royal Navy Dockyard. Take a Bermuda cruise from Boston on Norwegian Gem, or sail from New York on Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Prima. Make it a family beach day on beautiful Horseshoe Bay, or grab a snorkel and dive into an underwater world. Come back aboard and get a massage, enjoy a four course meal, drop by the casino, eat late and dance all night. It's all good, because with Norwegian you're free to vacation on your schedule, not ours.
Secure these savings online by choosing your nearest airport in step one of your cruise booking, and enjoy air-to-sea made easy. We'll coordinate your roundtrip flights, and transportation between the airport and cruise port. Another consideration is hurricane season, which extends officially from June to November.
Out of dinner before 7 PM, we headed upstairs to grab our bags then back ashore. With the overnight stays in Bermuda, guests can come and go as they please. We were still undecided if we would stay out in the Dockyard after our tour or head back to the ship.
Best Things to Do in Bermuda on a Cruise – A Bermuda Cruise Guide
Lucky for us cruisers, there is one right in Dockyard fairly close to the cruise ships. My favorite souvenirs to bring home usually include some local treats. You can find some good options right in dockyard, close to your cruise ship. As a suggestion, use your first day or two to visit places further from the port and do excursions on your own.
Take a Scenic Bike Tour
Follow our social media and blog for the latest cruise and travel news, including our best vacation deals. Delve into the subterranean world of Bermuda's Crystal and Fantasy Caves. Explorers discovered these captivating caves in the early 1900s.
Other shops in Dockyard include a rum cake shop and the glass blowing shop where they demonstrate their work. Some great clothing stores feature nautical themed clothing and made in Bermuda jewelry, candles and other collectibles. If you head into town a couple hours before, you can visit some of the Government buildings and beautiful churches and perhaps do a bit of shopping. You can also check out some of the popular local restaurants and people watch. In the parish of Hamilton, you’ll also find some of Bermuda’s oldest historic churches. In particular, the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity is worth a visit.
Follow the winding trails through the reserve, taking in the picturesque scenery and discovering the fascinating geological formations that dot the landscape. Nature lovers will appreciate the Bermuda Botanical Gardens, a 36-acre oasis of lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and tropical plants. Wander the peaceful pathways, visit the aromatic sensory garden, and discover the impressive collection of orchids housed in the gardens' dedicated facility. Cycle along the scenic Railway Trail, taking in breathtaking views of the island's coastline and lush landscapes.
The Royal Naval Dockyard has quite a few activities to do and places to visit, all within a short distance of your cruise ship. It’s well worth exploring and taking time to visit this part of Bermuda. If your cruise ship will be in Bermuda on a Wednesday, you should plan on going to Hamilton’s Harbour Nights Festival. Hamilton Harbour Nights is a fun evening street fair with local vendors of handicrafts and delicious street food. Arguably the most famous beach in Bermuda, Horseshoe Bay Beach is about a 15 minute drive from the Royal Naval Dockyard cruise port.
Our original plan was to spend the day at Horseshoe Bay Beach, but the weather was not in our favor again today. Day 4 of our Norwegian Joy cruise to Bermuda was our first day in port. Given that Bermuda is very easy to navigate with public transportation, we opted to do most of our exploring on our own. A bonus of sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line is that they also offer a free shuttle to St. George at set times each day. Given it was another nice day, we took some time after breakfast to get outside and explore more of the ship. Norwegian Joy still has a complimentary mini-golf course aft on Deck 19 above the Speedway.
